Thanks for stopping by my blogging hot spot, Feel Good and Travel! My name is Vessy. I was born in Bulgaria, a small Eastern European country on the Balkan Peninsula. It is bordered by the Black Sea on the East, Romania on the North, Serbia and Macedonia on the West, and Greece and Turkey on the South. Bulgaria is truly a beautiful place, and even though it is quite small, it has it all, from soft-sand beaches to high, rugged mountain ranges. Naturally, you will find a number of posts dedicated to my home country.
Currently, I live in the state of Texas with my family, and enjoy it very much. I am a musician by profession, although there was a period in my life when I worked as a Heart Transplant Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit. As much as I loved being a nurse and taking care of people, I could feel that the long, stressful hours of ICU nursing were starting to weigh me down. After careful consideration of different options, I decided to go back to music full time. My husband and I opened a piano studio, and have been enjoying teaching for a number of years. We have two daughters, Angie and Dani, and a Golden Retriever, named Sammy. My husband Cam is also a part-time pilot, and we all love flying with him to destinations nearby and far away.
After reading all this info, you must be wondering why I decided to start this seemingly unrelated blog! Well, the truth is one of my greatest passions in life is exploring and getting to know our world. Since I was little, I could easily remember names and facts about places I visited, and I found great joy in it. Traveling to new places and experiencing new cultures was always a deeply meaningful experience for me. So I created this blog, not only because I am obviously quite keen on feeling good and traveling, but also because I found it to be a great way to save and reflect on all the great memories and adventures from our family trips. Even more than that, I thought it may actually be interesting and useful to people who are planning on taking similar trips, and may have questions.
I can tell you that before I go somewhere, I always try to learn as much as possible about my destination, especially if I have never been there. I try to prepare as best as I can. You probably do the same! It is, however, not always possible to know and understand everything until you actually experience it. I remember searching the Internet for weeks about information on climbing to the top of Petit Piton in St. Lucia in the Caribbean. There was hardly any firsthand wisdom.
On another occasion, I searched for information on hiking up to Half Dome in Yosemite National Park with children. Even though I found a lot of materials, I still never saw an article from someone who had actually taken kids up there. So, after my husband and I did the Half Dome hike with our 8 and 10-year-old daughters, we started getting a lot of questions. Family and friends who are avid outdoor people wanted to know all the details. Several of them mentioned that I should consider writing a blog, and putting the information out there for others to read.
So, this is how the idea of my Feel Good and Travel site came about. I figured, traveling is one of my greatest passions in life, and nothing would give me more pleasure than to meet and chat with people who feel similarly. We can exchange knowledge and information, and be even better prepared to explore our world.
